Cousins Meet

In October Tristan and Noah's first cousin, Ana Maria, was born. But it wasn't until just last week when we arrived in Mexico that the cousin's met. Noah loves Ana Maria's toys and tries to steal her "mimi" (pacifier) and Tristan is already calling her HIS baby.

Look who found Santa's stash!

I was never one of those kids who looked for their Christmas presents before Christmas so it didn't occur to me to hide my 2 year old's presents well. I just put them in the back of Abuelita's pantry. But sure enough, yesterday I hear, "Look mommy, look!" and see Tristan coming out of the pantry with a car in his hand like he just won the lottery. Oh well, at least he only saw one of his presents!

The Boys First Posada

The night after we arrived in Mexico we attended the boys first posada. There wer introduced Noah to Edgar's extended family for the first time. Tristan was enthralled with the candles and sparklers and the fact that we let him hold them. Noah even stayed awake for the event. After we sang the kids got to hit TWO pinatas and even little kids like Tristan got to give them a whack. Tristan was too shy to run for the candy after fell but his second cousin, Emiliano, got some for him -so sweet!

Early Christmas in Denver

This year we will be in Mexico for Christmas, and my cousin Joanna will be in Venezuela, so a few weekends ago celebrated Christmas early at my mom's house in Denver. We had a day full of Christmas activities. We decorated sugar cookies. Joanna and Tristan decorate a gingerbread house. We played board games and exchanged gifts. The boys were really spoiled and got a ton of gifts. I think the favorite of the day was the BIG red fire engine my aunt gave Tristan. He is in LOVE with it and even slept with it that night.
Noah really loves his Great-grandma!

I think more candy and frosting made it into Tristan's stomach than onto the cookies.

Joanna showed a lot of patience working with Tristan on the gingerbread house.

Look at all those gifts!

Noah got this adorable outfit from my grandparents and we had to put it on him for the day.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Yesterday we arrived in Mexico and the boys are having a great time but the trip there (on a big jet) was pretty exciting for someone too.
Tristan had his own Choo choo backpack filled with his favorite cars for the trip.

My mom and dad took us to the airport and helped us get two boys and all our luggage checked in and to security.

We arrived at our gate with some time to spare so there was plenty of time for plane watching.

But after our flight was delayed an hour (putting us two hours past nap time) even plane watching got a little old and deperation set in.

But finally we got on our plane and brighten Tristan's mood.
Thankfully, after about an hour both the boys slept for most of the flight. Flying on a "big jet" isn't something Tristan is likely for forget for quite awhile.

Decorating the Tree

This year we are going to Mexico for Christmas so we only have a small tree at our house. But last we did go over to my mom's house to help her decorate her tree. It was the first year Tristan was actually able to help with the decorating and he really got into putting "balls" on the tree.
He was even able to hang balls with small little strings.

The only problem is that he didn't share Grandma's ideas on how the balls should be placed on the tree. For some reason Grandma didn't think all the balls should go together on one branch, so when he wasn't looking she undid his handy work.
With a little help he was really good at putting the balls up high.
Then he and Noah sat down to enjoy the lights!
And admire all their hard work.

Christmas in Denver

Today we went over to my mom's house to celebrate Christmas with my parents, grandparents, aunt and cousin. Since we are leaving for Mexico next Saturday (and my cousin is leaving for Venezuela) we decided to celebrate together this weekend. I took a ton of pictures but this moment was one of my favorites. My grandma adores Noah and he loves her giving her smiles and giggles all the time. They have a strong bond and over 90 years between them!

Noah's First Tree

Last weekend we went to my parents' house to help them decorate the tree for Christmas. After we put the ornaments on the tree Tristan and Noah sat down and took a look at the lights.

A New Playpen

Yesterday Edgar discovered a new sort of playpen for Noah. He can sit in it easily and when his toys fall, they fall near by, easily within reach to grab again.

Noah was very content to sit in his toy box (from Tristan's toy shelves) and chew on this toys.

Tristan saw this and wanted in too. After much convincing (that he wouldn't fit in there too) Tristan decided to try his lunch box and proudly told me, "I fit in, Mommy."

Later he got into a grocery bag...

Until sillyness overcame him.

Eventually we went back to Tristan's toy shelf and emptied another toy box for him to use.

And the boys hung out together awhile in their boxes...

Until more silliness broke out,

followed shortly by a fit (it was bedtime).
