Best Friends

When Tristan first started going to daycare I would see comments, on his daily log, about how he ran around with Jamison, hunted bugs with Jamison, built a tower with Jamison... And pretty quickly is became clear that he had a best friend, Jamison. But is wasn't until we went to Jami's 2nd birthday that I got to see the two friends in action. At first they were a little shy to see each other out of daycare (mostly Tristan bc he tends to be shy) but pretty soon they were chasing each other all over the place and I was trying in vain to keep up (at 8 months pregnant). Since both the boys have been out of daycare for the summer Jamison's mom, Hava, and I have gotten the two together for a few playdates. Even though they hadn't seen each other in over a month they didn't miss a beat. They are so funny to watch together. They both jump up and down when they are excited or proud of themselves. They both LOVE cars and chasing bugs together. And they have the most amazing conversations together. I can only understand about every fourth word but the two of them seem to understand each other perfectly as they chatter away. It is so much fun to watch Tristan develop his first real friendship!

So Strong

Noah is growing up so fast and is getting so strong. He can easily pick his head up and look around when he is on his stomach. He also laughed for the first time today and is always full of smiles. Part of me is excited for him to grow up so he and Tristan can play together, and the other part is sad that time is going by so fast. We just have to enjoy these moments while they are here.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park

A couple of weeks ago we went with Grandma and Grandpa Wendland to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We went for a drive on Trail Ridge Road. It is a 50 mile long scenic drive through the park that goes up to 11,500 ft. We stopped along the way to get out at different scenic points to do some (very minimal) hiking. We had a great time. Too bad the park is a little bit of a drive from Denver.

My Sweet Boys

Cheap Fun

The week Tristan had a ton of fun with plain old cardboard boxes. He started out with one but pretty soon Edgar had taped four boxes together to make a tunnel. Our house is definitely not big enough for such a tunnel to we moved it outside, where Tristan began decorating it with markers and chalk. Too bad that the tunnel was outside the other night when it rained. That was the end of our cheap fun.

Bath Time

Tristan loves to take a bath. Or maybe I should say he loves to play in the bathtub... He hates having his hair washed and isn't too fond of washing, in general. But give him some bubbles and his cars and he is in heaven.

Thumbsucker

Noah has been working very hard on getting his hands to his mouth. He has just about mastered it. The other day he fell asleep in daddy's arms sucking his thumb.

Rainbow Cupcakes

Tristan and I decided to make cupcakes. I stole the "rainbow" idea from the blog of a K teacher I used to work with in Plano. We had a lot of fun making them and Tristan really enjoyed eating them. Thanks for the great idea Cara!

Huggies Please

Edgar went to the store to buy diapers for Tristan and they were out of Huggies in Tristan's size. He knows I don't like Pampers so he bought a generic brand. This was the result.

First Smile

So Noah has been smiling for about three weeks, but this is the first time I was able to capture it. He is now full of smiles and cooing away!

The Makeover

My parents have been working a lot on their house since they moved into it about a year ago. They have just about finished redoing their master bath/walk-in closet. This weekend we helped them paint the living room and pull up the floor boards to get ready for their hardwood floors to be refinished. Tristan had a blast helping out. We let him help with priming and then my dad let him help pull up the floor boards. He was SO excited to be using TOOLS.

4th of July Parade

On the 4th of July we participated in the Highland's 4th parade. Our friends Lauren and Pedro were here in CO visiting from Texas with the little guy, Marcus. Marcus was Tristan's very first friend. Lauren and I used to take the boys for walks in their strollers once a week from the time they were just a few months old.

We arrived at the parade's start a little bit later than planned so everyone pitched in decorating the strollers and bike for the parade. Tristan only wanted to ride his bike for about 5 minutes and then Edgar ended up carrying it for the rest of the parade while Tristan rode in his stroller. Everyone had a great time parading down the street to the BBQ.

4th Highlands BBQ

After the parade we joined the 4th BBQ with food, music, games, and a 60-foot long ice cream sundae.

Fireworks

We went down to Sloan's Lake on the 3rd to watch Edgewater's fireworks. Tristan had a great time. The fireworks didn't go off until quite a bit after his bedtime but he kept himself busy running around and exploring until the show started. Noah slept through the whole show...
